Overview
Cashwiser started as a personal finance management tool oriented towards tracking transactions. As time went by, we recognized the need for more advanced functionalities. After exploring several storyboards, we realized we wanted people to feel more confident in their finance management abilities. Thus, Reports took shape: an advanced, personal, and customizable dashboard that helps you centralize and analyze your income and spending.

Research insights
We uncovered three main user archetypes, each with their own goals: to cut expenses, to optimize multiple income streams, and to manage a small team or a project. This exercise led to the realization that each dashboard should be somehow different from each other, in content and presentation. Entrepreneurs would have different needs than someone interested in tracking an entire team's expenses.
Solutions
We offer a simple and effective onboarding that asks users to select one of three different goals. Then, after a short wait, we can generate three different dashboards with various analytics depending on the initial goal. Expense trackers can see breakdowns by budget and frequency, while income optimizers can see a growth trends comparison between two income sub-categories. Additionally, these dashboards allow for full customization, so more experienced users can dive into the Customize function to change which analytics they would prefer seeing.
Unexpected challenges
The Management Reports default dashboard posed a bigger challenge than the first two. The multiple income streams had to be shown in relationship to all expense categories, so users should have dashboards that combine Income and Expense functionalities without being overwhelmed. Glanceability was important, so we used simple and elegant charts with fully customizable color schemes.
Results
The result is a potent finance management functionality that is highly personalized based on the users' goals. The dashboard's simplicity allows for high scalability into the future, meaning the app will ensure retention for new and experienced users alike.
